there's not too many genuine hunan restaurants but this place was really good!! we ordered the egg tofu, cauliflower, shredded potato, & this pork dish (supposed to be similar to 少炒肉). my personal favorite was definitely the cauliflower & the egg tofu. the cauliflower was so flavorful and had little thin slices of crispy pork in it... the tofu was so soft and paired perfectly with the rice. the pork dish was also sooo spicy!! i loved it xD the ambiance inside is also super nice and i really enjoyed my experience here.

Many Chinese restaurants across America use the word "Hunan" in their names but don't actually serve Hunan food. Even for restaurants that do serve Hunan food, the spicy levels are weak and and they are unable to make it authentically spicy even when requested. There were no such problems here as the food at Hunan Slurp is 100% authentic. I placed a carryout order for Lu Fen. I emphasized to the staff that I wanted maximum spiciness and did not want a version that was served to most American clientele. The staff gave warning that they wouldn't be responsible if it was too spicy and I enthusiastically agreed. On my receipt, they marked the spicy level to "Devil Spicy". It took thirty minutes to fulfill my order but I was willing to endure the wait for an authentic dish that is extremely hard to come by in the US. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with wood interior and bright lighting. There is also an open kitchen where you can observe the staff cooking. I even confirmed with the staff that the chefs were from Hunan. The Lu Fen was absolutely the real deal. It takes a lot of spiciness for me to feel the heat and this dish sufficiently packed enough heat I could feel it. The flavor and ingredients of the dish were super authentic and what you would expect if you had the dish back in Hunan, China. I will definitely come back in the future for a full dine in experience.
